About Michael Heikes
With years of courtroom trial experience, Mr. Heikes is an experienced and skilled litigator. However, his practice in Williamsburg has broadened to enable him to provide a multitude of services to his clients. Whether you need to have a will or power of attorney prepared, a contract reviewed, are looking to set up a small business, need advice on how to handle a dispute before it spirals into something expensive, stressful and time consuming, we can help. We strive to provide representation in a respectful and ethical manner and we believe in taking the time to explain the legal process to our clients each step along the way so that he or she can make fully informed decisions about the way the case will be handled. Mr. Heikes has represented clients in the state and federal courts throughout Virginia, particularly in Williamsburg and on the Peninsula.
Michael Heikes founded the firm in 2001. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and his law degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary in 1984. After spending the early years of his career in large law firms in Baltimore and Norfolk, specializing in litigation, he moved to Williamsburg and has built a practice based on providing quality service to clients at a reasonable cost.
Mr. Heikes is licensed and admitted to the bar in Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. Since 2000, he has been a member of the bar of the United States Supreme Court. He has recently completed six years of service as a member of the Virginia State Bar’s Sixth District’s Disciplinary Committee and now serves as a faculty member for the Harry L. Carrico Professionalism Course for new members of the bar. He has been an adjunct faculty member at the William and Mary School of Law since 1999, teaching in both the Legal Skills and Legal Practice programs.
